At an earnings briefing this week, GameStop CEO Paul Raines said that he played the Switch and was impressed by what he saw.
“The Nintendo Switch, which I played at Nintendo a few weeks ago–we believe could be another game-changer that will expand the audience for gaming”, said Raines, as per GameSpot.
He also mentioned that 7% of the retail chain’s Power Up Rewards members who were aware of the Switch were interested in purchasing it. The interest being shown by their clients falls in like with the interest that they had in the Xbox One before its launch in 2013.
This early interest is a good sign that the Switch will get off to a better start than the Wii U.
He also said that the Nintendo Switch Joy Con controller may have motion control.
“A movement-related game is more fun for kids, you know, taking those accessories off – [the detachable Joy-Con pads] – you can really do a lot of interesting things with that in gameplay.”
Raines seems to be quite optimistic about Nintendo’s latest system. Here’s hoping that he thinks that for more than just monetary reasons.
