Shovel Knight is coming to Nintendo Switch

Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, a new version of the popular 2014 title by Yacht Club Games, has been announced for Nintendo Switch.

Treasure Trove has a host of new features. You can play as a female Shovel Knight and male Shield Knight in Body Swap Mode, and can also play the previously Wii U-exclusive co-op mode. This is the case for all of the game’s other versions as well.

The new version of Shovel Knight is not a sequel, but rather a refined and updated experience. It includes the Plague of Shadows and Specter of Torrent DLC, and all existing Shovel Knight owners will be able to upgrade their game to the Treasure Trove version for free.

New, free DLC will also be released later in 2017. Here’s Yacht Club Games’ description of Shovel Knight’s new features:

Shovel Knight: King Knight’s Campaign – A crazy campaign with the gilded goob himself!

Shovel Knight: Battle Mode – Duel with up to 4 players as your favorite heroic or villainous knight!

Yacht Club Games is also giving players the option to purchase each campaign as separate, standalone games.

In spite of the fact that this DLC will be available at no charge for existing Treasure Trove owners, people who decide to purchase the game after the free updates roll out will have to purchase them separately.

Yacht Club Games also intends on raising Shovel Knight’s price in the spring.

“If you haven’t picked up Shovel Knight yet and want all the content included within Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, buy it now before the price increases! Or pick a selection of the standalone versions for a cheaper price!”

Will you be picking up Shovel Knight for Switch, or just stick with one of the existing versions?
