The Big N held a Fire Emblem-centric Nintendo Direct earlier today, which included quite a bit of news for future Switch owners. Here’s a comprehensive look at what was announced.

Nintendo revealed that new Fire Emblem game would be coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch in 2018. This marks the first time that a mainline Fire Emblem game gets a home console release since 2008’s Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn for Wii.

“With Nintendo Switch, the Fire Emblem experience won’t be confined to you house”, said Nintendo during the Direct.

No screenshots or additional information were shared, other than the fact that the game’s working title is “Fire Emblem”. How original!

They also shared this new Fire Emblem Warriors “extended gameplay” trailer.

The trailer shows Fire Emblem: Awakening’s main character Chrom beating up tons of enemies, in typical Musou fashion.

The visuals look good, but who knows if this is actual gameplay or not. Don’t forget that Hyrule Warriors infamously had a good amount of “bullshots” made public before its release. Honestly, considering the camera angles and super impressive visuals, it very well may not be actual gameplay. Stay tuned.

Fire Emblem Warriors will release in Fall 2017 for Switch and New 3DS.

That pretty much does it for Switch news at the Direct. Nintendo also shared lots of information about its upcoming mobile Fire Emblem game, sub-titled Heroes. The main character is a summoner who must summon (right?) other characters from the Fire Emblem series to build their team.

Orbs are used to summon additional characters, and they can be earned or purchased. It maintains the series’ famous tactical RPG gameplay. You can take a look at its reveal trailer here. It will launch on Android and iOS on February 2nd.

In other news, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia was also announced for 3DS. Here what Nintendo describes the game as:

“In 1992, the second game in the Fire Emblem series, Fire Emblem Gaiden, launched exclusively in Japan. Now, for the first time, fans outside of Japan will get a taste of this classic game on the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is inspired by the 1992 original, reimagined on a grander scale.”

It will also feature an overhauled presentation and modernized gameplay elements. It will be releasing on May 19, 2017.
