Nicalis sends out tweet about Switch games, then promply takes it down

This is the photo that was deleted from Nicalis’ Twitter account.

Earlier today, American publisher Nicalis’ official Twitter account quietly announced that 1001 Spikes and Cave Story would be coming to Nintendo Switch, and proceeded to delete the tweet shortly thereafter.

Of course, news that these two hit platformers will release on Switch is interesting, but there’s more to this story than that.

The photo seemingly confirms a night mode for the Switch UI, but also shares potentially secret information about another unannounced Switch game.

Hydra Castle Labyrinth, a Japanese freeware game originally released for PC in 2011, looks to be the game shown on the right side of the photo that Nicalis tweeted, according to some investigators over on Reddit.

This Castlevania-esque game may also make its way to Switch, and Nicalis will presumably be publishing it.

This perhaps explains why the tweet was deleted. This seemingly wasn’t supposed to be public knowledge just yet. Ditto for night mode.

Oh well, too late now.
